Repeat RTG order for Konecranes from NUTEP Container Terminal in Russia

The value of the order is not disclosed. NUTEP is a growing container terminal at the Black Sea. Konecranes delivered its first RTGs to NUTEP in 2008. The recently ordered crane is part of the terminal’s expansion plan, which will increase the annual capacity from current 130,000 TEU to 600,000 TEU by 2015. “The customer appreciates not only the reduced energy costs, but also the higher fleet availability that the RTG’s all-electric systems offer,” says Jussi Sarpio, General Manager, RTG cranes at Konecranes. “Another important feature is the crane’s sway-control design which increases productivity in the terminal.”

The cable reel RTGs have been designed to take account of future environmental requirements. The cranes feature a cable reel power supply system, which reduces energy costs significantly compared to traditional, diesel powered RTG’s. It also reduces noise and local emissions. In addition, the RTGs are equipped with active load control with a horizontal fine positioning system. The 16-wheel all-electric cranes have a lifting capacity of 50 tons and can stack one over five containers high and seven plus truck lane wide.
