Bridge the gap – cranes barged from Goole to Hull

At over 100 feet high and weighing in at around 600 tonnes, the cranes drew quite a crowd as they travelled under the Humber Bridge on a barge operated by Dutch-based Muller Dordrecht. The move required a planned clearance of three metres with the agreement of the Humber Bridge Board. The two mobile harbour cranes arrived in Hull during the Wednesday evening, following which they were successfully positioned in their new home.

Matt Jukes, Port Director, ABP Hull & Goole said: “We are delighted that the relocation of the two mobile harbour cranes went according to plan. The cranes are now fully operational in their new home and will enable TransAtlantic UK Ltd to start handling their vessels at their new terminal in Hull almost immediately.”
