Chinese ports report increase in cargo throughput

Total container throughput stood at 14.46 million TEU – up 9.7% compared to last year. A total of 12.96 million TEU alone was handled by the major coastal ports.

In the meantime, Shanghai International Port (Group) reported an increase of 8.5% in container throughput in September compared to the same month in 2010 but throughput decreased on August. Shanghai handled a total of 2.76 million TEU in September – up from 2.54 million TEU in September 2010.
