Interested parties have until August 8 to present offers, with envelopes scheduled to be opened the same day, APM said in a recent press release. The authority expects to award the 25-year concession by late September, and the contract is scheduled to be signed late November. Investment in the project is estimated to reach some USD300 million, including the purchase of container handling equipment and completion of the infrastructure. So far, 13 international port operators have expressed interest in participating in the tender, with nine reportedly visiting the facilities. The project aims to create a multi-purpose maritime terminal to boost Ecuador’s foreign trade and provide a logistics hub for the Manta-Manaus corridor.
