“June 2012 is the best June in the history of the port for TEUs, containers and rail,” said Virginia Port Authority (VPA) Executive Director Jerry A. Bridges. “I think we are going to continue to gain ground as indicators continue to point to growth for The Port of Virginia.”
Also in June the breakbulk tonnage total was 34,347, a decrease of 24.6 percent increase when compared with totals from last June. Still, the year-to-date breakbulk comparison in tons (2012 vs. 2011) has increased 11 percent: 187,762 vs. 168,939, respectively.
