New container terminal for Charleston on schedule

Shown on the photographs, crews convey fill material behind the terminal’s 5,000-foot-long containment structure. At build out, the facility will increase Charleston’s container capacity by 50%. Gains for containers handled at the South Carolina Port Authority’s public port facilities have been strong throughout the year, with an 11.7% increase in container volumes for the first five months of the fiscal year and a more than 9% rise during the calendar year to date.
