Tyre and fuel savings for BCTN container terminals with Hyster

Two new Hyster empty container handlers have been delivered to Binnenlandse Container Terminals Nederland (BCTN) in Nijmegen and Den Bosch in the Netherlands. The new empty container handlers capable of handling double containers, 2 on 5 9’6”, not only provide a significant reduction in fuel consumption, but one also features the new tyre saving axle technology from Hyster.

Female crew plays pivotal role in guiding largest container vessel into Port of Ngqura

Cargotec delivers four DRT450 reachstackers in an Australian order

Cargotec has delivered a total four Kalmar DRT450-type reachstackers to a major freight forwarder and logistics specialist in Australia. The logistics company will use the DRT450s for rugged heavy-duty handling at the Australian Maritime Complex (AMC) in Henderson, Western Australia. The order was placed in December 2011. Since then it has had a major impact on subsequent sales of the unit in the Asia-Pacific market and of the order numbers for Kalmar-branded machines in China. 

APM Terminals’ Cai Mep Transforming Vietnamese Ports

Ba Ria Vung Tau, Vietnam – Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) has been operational for only a year and despite having five competing terminals within the Cai Mep port area, CMIT will handle close to 600,000 TEU in 2012, representing 50% of the volumes currently moving through the port. “Our productivity has already reached world-class levels regularly exceeding 40 crane moves per hour which shows how competitive Vietnamese ports can be” commented Steen Davidson, Managing Director of Cai Mep International Terminal.

TTS to acquire the heavy lift crane company Neuenfelder Maschinenfabrik GmbH

TTS Group ASA has entered into an agreement to acquire Neuenfelder Maschinenfabrik GmbH (NMF), located in Hamburg, Germany. The closing is expected to be in the first half of August 2012.

Expected turnover of NMF in 2012 is 660 MNOK (88 MEUR). The last 5 years NMF has delivered marine cranes for a value of approximately NOK 5.3 billion (700 MEUR). At end May 2012 the value of cranes to be delivered (order reserve) was 713 MNOK (95 MEUR).

A Damen Cutter Suction Dredger, type CSD500, has been built under license by Canal Naval Construction for the Egyptian General Authority for Fish Resource Development. The customer, a long term Damen customer, requested local construction which was supervised by Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC).

Peel Ports Pledges Major Drive to Secure Vestas Replacement at Sheerness

Peel Ports Group, owner of the Port of Sheerness in Kent, has moved quickly to pledge a major effort in securing a replacement for Vestas, following a decision not to take up the option to locate a major wind turbine manufacturing facility at the port. Peel Ports and Vestas jointly announced last week that the Danish firm’s planned creation of a major European-scale manufacturing plant would not now proceed.  However Mark Whitworth, chief executive of the UK’s second-largest ports group, said his company was “100% committed” to finding a replacement, describing the Sheerness facility as “absolutely tailor-made” for major renewables manufacturing.

Cargotec wins a major order from the U.S. Department of Defense

Cargotec's Kalmar Rough Terrain Center in Cibolo, Texas, has received an order for its light capability rough terrain forklift (LCRTF) trucks through its contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.  Total value of order is approximately EUR 50 million and it includes a delivery of 766 forklift trucks from July 2013 onwards.
