APM Terminals offers Virginia billion dollar port deal

APM Terminals of Portsmouth, Va., has submitted a proposal to the Commonwealth of Virginia for a strategic partnership with the Port of Virginia. APM Terminals is offering to be responsible for the operation of all Port of Virginia facilities in Hampton Roads and related inland locations.

Port of Eilat receives approval for privatisation

The port of Eilat, Israel, has received approval from the Knesset Finance Committee for privatisation of the port.

Rena container recovery passes 800 mark

The number of containers recovered from the stricken Rena on Mount Mauganui's Astrolabe Reef has risen above the 800 mark.  A total of 815 of the 1,368 containers have now been brought to port.

Six Konecranes RTGs successfully delivered to Brazilian container terminal

Konecranes has successfully delivered six RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry) cranes to container terminal operator TCP Paranagua in Brazil. This was Konecranes’ third RTG delivery to TCP, who now has sixteen Konecranes RTGs in their fleet.

CTSI Croatia gears up for increased activity

A year after taking over operation of Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) in the Port of Rijeka in Croatia, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. has developed and upgraded facilities and systems at the terminal as AGCT gears up for increased port activity, expending HR23 million in 2011 alone.

Louisiana ports play an important role in the state's economic picture

Port of New Orleans dedicates $26 million crane

Earlier this month  Governor Bobby Jindal joined the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans in dedicating major improvements at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal that will generate more cargo and jobs for the city and state.

Transnet takes delivery of new mobile harbour cranes

South African port operator Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) took delivery of two brand new mobile harbour cranes this month, part of a R438 million programme to beef up container handling capacity at the Durban RORO and Maydon Wharf Terminal.

Georgia Ports set RoRo record

The Georgia Ports Authority marked a record month in April for autos and the fourth busiest month in the Authority's history for total tonnage. In autos and heavy machinery, the GPA handled 60,974 units.
