DP World Constantza is the latest star of CNN International’s well-regarded “The Gateway” programme, part of “Connect the World” and is one of CNN’s prime time shows, broadcasted to over 260 million homes worldwide. The first episode of a four part series will be aired in May.
Hosted by high profile CNN anchor Becky Anderson, the programme goes behind the scenes to show how Constantza Port operates as a seamless gateway for the Asia-Black Sea trade. Becky Anderson also featured DP World’s flagship terminal, Jebel Ali in Dubai at the end of last year.
Each episode will be aired weekly through May under the economic title ‘Connect the World’, which is presented by Becky Anderson.*
The series includes four episodes covering different aspects and success stories about the Port including an interview given at DP World Constanta by Romania’s President Mr.Traian Basescu, whose interview is used as a “leading voice” throughout the series.
One of the episodes features DP World Constantza as the Gateway not only for the Asia-Black Sea trade but also as a strategic entry point to carry large volumes of containers far into the heartland of Europe. DP World’s Romanian subsidiary company started operations in 2004 as a brand new state-of-the-art facility located near the entrance to Constanta Port and enjoys excellent deep-draft access. The current capacity of the terminal is approximately 1.3 million TEU with sufficient land area for phased expansion to reach a capacity of 3.5 million TEU if required. Since its inception, DP World Constanta has managed to increase the volume of containerized traffic through the Romanian port by a multiple of 7 in the timeframe 2003-2008, clearly demonstrating the success of this container terminal.
