Four new Post Panamax ship-to-shore container cranes arrived at YILPORT GEML?K on board with a specialised crane transport. Equipped with the latest technology, these all new gantry cranes were built to order by MES in Japan. They represent a multi-million dollar investment in the future of YILPORT HOLDING as the new gateway to the region. Yilport Gemlik officially took delivery of the new cranes following their 15,446 mile journey by sea from Japan that took over 40 days. The cranes are the first batch of an order for eight 61t SWL, 63.5m outreach (23-wide) Paceco Portainers manufactured in Japan by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co (MES). They are being shipped fully-erect and have left the Mitsui ESB plant at Oita. Shipping lines which calls at Gemport facility will soon get the benefit of the best equipment, best service, and highest productivity in the entire region
The Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes, manufactured by Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES), have left Oita (Japan) and took about 40 days to reach Gemlik (Turkey). The cranes were so large that the ship carrying them needed to navigate around the southern tip of Africa, instead of taking the Suez Canal shortcut. The new Mitsui cranes will allow Yilport Gemlik and the entire Bursa region to compete at a new level for international and domestic cargos. These cranes are incredible pieces of machinery, but they require highly trained people to operate and support them. The cranes – four each for Yilport’s Gemlik and Gebze terminals – can handle large size container carriers of twenty-three tiers and have been ordered to deal with the anticipated continuation of economic growth in Turkey.
