International trade also showed an increase of 0.8% to 141 million tons. The volume of exports grew steadily with a major contribution from completed automobiles, automobile parts, and steel materials. Also the major import items for this year were LNG and iron ores.
Containerised cargo trade reached 48.9 million tons (up 3.0%), with the total number of containers at 2.71 million TEU (up 2.0%). With outgoings of 1,358,556 TEU and incomings of 1,350,097 TEU, container trade at the Port of Nagoya shows a good balance.
