CMA CGM adds Port of New Orleans to weekly European Service

CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container carrier, announced today it is adding the Port to its Victory Bridge Service. CMA CGM will launch the service Feb. 2 with the arrival of the CMA CGM Jamaica at the Port’s Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal.

“We are thrilled to have France-based CMA CGM add the Port of New Orleans to their Victory Bridge Service,” said Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange. “Shippers will now have greater options, which will further strengthen our connections to not only Europe, but also the Mediterranean, Africa, India Sub-Continent, Middle East and Red Sea.”

CMA CGM has called the Port of New Orleans since 2009 and operates its weekly Gulf Bridge Express to the Caribbean and South and Central American ports from New Orleans. CMA CGM is based in Marseilles, France, with its United States head office in Norfolk, Va.

The new weekly service will call New Orleans, Antwerp, Belgium; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Bremerhaven, Germany; and Veracruz and Altamira, Mexico.

Stevedore Ports America will work the new service’s cargo at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal.
