Port of Amsterdam signs MOU with Aruba

Aruba has a favourable climate for business and development. Logistics and tourism are two of Aruba’s key economic pillars. Approximately one million cruise passengers visit Aruba every year. Port of Amsterdam International, a division of Port of Amsterdam, specialises in advising and supporting the sustainable modernisation of port infrastructure and will partner with Aruba Port Authority (APA) to explore the possibilities for working in cooperation.

Think global, act local The MOU establishes the intention to further study and explore the possibilities for cooperation between Port of Amsterdam and Aruba. Under the motto ‘port of partnership’, Port of Amsterdam will examine Aruba’s needs and the role it can play in meeting them. Port of Amsterdam CEO Dertje Meijer: ‘Think global, act local is the guiding principle. Aruba is located very favourably from a strategic viewpoint and serves as a key hub to Latin America. This combined with a good climate for business and
development makes the country very attractive to international tourists and investors.’ Aruban Prime Minister Mike Eman: ‘Port of Amsterdam has vast experience in port development, management and operation. Tourism is economically important to Aruba. Our aim is to develop it further in a sustainable manner. We are going to examine the way in which we can cooperate.’
