Available in the UK through Cooper, the Mantsinen 200 M HybriLift was voted Crane of the Year at the International Bulk Journal Awards.
The judges commended Mantsinen for its systematic approach to materials handling and were particularly impressed by its commitment to thinking beyond conventional methods and limitations when developing its products. They singled out the Mantsinen 200 M HybriLift for raising the bar in terms of mobile harbour crane productivity levels.
Chris Barnes, General Manager of Cooper Specialised Handling, which is the UK’s sole importer and distributor for Mantsinen cranes, said: “The IBJ Awards are highly respected throughout the industry and this accolade is great news for Mantsinen, for us and for our customers, who are benefiting from Mantsinen’s highly efficient and cost-effective lifting solutions.
“Customers report that the 200 M HybriLift crane’s fast cycle time is key to improving productivity in bulk handling applications, while its hydraulic precision makes light work of loading/unloading other types of cargo.”
One example of how the lift is leading the field when it comes to improved cycle rates is its performance when handling steel coiling. Typically, the industry standard is 25-35 coils per hour, but the Mantsinen 200 M HybriLift can deliver 60 coils per hour. Similarly with container handling, it can load in excess of 45 containers per hour compared to the 22-28 containers per hour achieved by competitor machines.
The 200 M HybriLift is believed to be the world’s largest mobile hydraulic crane. Weighing in at over 280 tonnes and with a 40m horizontal reach, it spreads the envelope even further in terms of the hydraulic crane concept. The 200 M HybriLift is mounted on five axles, each taking four wheels, with the front two axles and rear two axles steering in opposite directions for maximum manoeuvrability. Despite its physical size and weight, the crane retains the speed and precision associated with the smaller members of the Mantsinen family. The 200M HybriLift is also available on tracks or on rails.
“The is the first time the 50-year old family company has won this prestigious accolade and we are delighted to be associated with Mantsinen and their expertise in the maritime bulk handling sector,” Chris added.
