Malaysian container terminal operator to install the Autostore Terminal Operating System (TOS) in major IT infrastructure upgrade

The new TOS implementation spans the Autostore Container Terminal Management System (CTMS) plus a range of additional modules to increase cargo throughput and enhance operational efficiency at the facility.

Operated by Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, SBCP is an important regional cargo management link between the Far East and Europe and is the largest container port in Sabah. It handles container vessels of up to 45,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) and is capable of handling around 500,000 TEU annually.

Phase one of the implementation comprises Autostore TOS plus the following functionality modules; Activity Charging (interfacing to SBCP’s billing systems); Berth Planning; Graphic Vessel Planning; Vehicle Booking; EDI; and Value Added Services for on-site container maintenance and repair. Autostore TOS will interface directly to SBCP’s ERP (enterprise resource planning) system to give Sabah Ports integrated, end-to-end and real-time control of all cargo, equipment and resource deployments. Access control options for phase two
include optical character recognition (OCR), licence plate recognition (LPR) and radio frequency identification (RFID).

Mohd Sahid Nawab Khan, COO at Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, said: “An advanced, capable and reliable TOS plays a vital part in supporting and enhancing the port operations. Sabah Ports looks forward to working with its new technology partners CSA and IT Portlink”.

Andrew McKaig, CEO at CSA, said: “With a growing customer base in the dynamic Far East container management market, we’re delighted to be working with IT Portlink and Sabah Ports. This important new contract win will continue to maintain the momentum that has made Autostore TOS the solution of choice for many container terminals around the world”.

Yeo Peng Leng, Managing Director at IT Portlink, said: “Autostore TOS is proven worldwide and it has the present capability and future-proofed functionality to deliver significant operational and business benefits for Sabah Ports. As part of the Terex Materials Handling & Port Solutions business, CSA brings an exceptional level of software expertise to the project that perfectly matches IT Portlink’s skills in container terminal infrastructure management”.
