RTG order from Egypt for Terex Port Solutions

The machines will be operated in the Alexandria Container Terminal and the El-Dekheila Container Terminal at the Port of Alexandria.

All six RTG cranes will be manufactured at the TPS facility in Xiamen, Peoples Republic of China and will join more than 20 Terex RTG’s once commissioned in November, 2016.

Each of ACCHCO’s two terminals is scheduled to receive three RTGs and will be equipped with eight wheels, provide a maximum lifting capacity of 36 tonnes under spreader and stack standard containers 1-over-5 with a hoisting height of 18.1 metres.

The three cranes for the Alexandria Container Terminal cover six container rows and a lane for terminal trucks.

The El?Dekheila Container Terminal is scheduled to receive one machine with a span of 22.5 metres and two cranes with a span of 26.5 metres that cover seven container rows and a truck lane.

Maurizio Altieri, General Manager of the TPS facility, said: “We are honoured by the trust that this important port operator has laid in our technology.

“ACCHCO is Egypt’s leading container handling company, and the fact that we will contribute to their two terminals’ sustainable growth, is an endorsement of our product and service portfolio.”

Ashraf Salman, Minister of Investment of Egypt, said: “More than 60% of Egypt’s foreign trade is handled through the Port of Alexandria.

“It is therefore crucial for our country’s economy that the fleet is based on the most reliable technology, such as the RTG cranes from TPS.”

Alaa Eldin Ma’moun Nada, Chairman and CEO of ACCHCO, said: “Terex RTGs have the reputation of being highly productive and offering competitive total cost of ownership.

“This is why we have now opted for this technology. With the six cranes we will significantly enhance the efficiency of our operations.”
