Logistics company to choose shipping lines calling at London Gateway

The announcement means that hundreds of thousands of road miles and significant cost savings will be achieved as freight arriving in the UK will be closer to its end destination, cutting out significant truck haulage miles.  These savings will benefit Claridon’s cargo owner customers when the new deep-sea port opens in Q4 2013.

?The leading commercial & military logistics provider Claridon Group, which operates global air, sea and land logistics services, is advising cargo owners that significant cost reductions are achievable by choosing London Gateway as their port of choice.

Commenting on their plans from Claridon’s Essex HQ, Chris Scott, Managing Director for Claridon Group, said: “We will definitely be booking our cargo with carriers calling at London Gateway as it will save time and money for us and our customers”.

Claridon manages approximately eight thousand TEU per year on behalf of cargo owners shipping to & from Asia, Europe, North & South America as well as other deep-sea locations.  The company has 25 years trading history.  ?

Mr Scott added: “We ship thousands of containers every year to and from Asia and when London Gateway opens, we will be taking advantage of the location and using it to cut supply chain costs for our customers spread across the UK. Having a port closer to where the containers need to go means that we can significantly reduce landside haulage costs. There’s substantial savings to be passed on to our customers due to London Gateway’s location, which they will be delighted about”.

?He continued: “Hundreds of millions of pounds of cost savings for UK firms will be achieved and it’s amazing to think that from next year, the UK shipping and ports industry will change forever. I just don’t think you can put into words how significant and valuable this location is”.

Charles Meaby Commercial Director for London Gateway said: “We welcome Claridon’s commitment to London Gateway. It’s a great example of what we will be delivering for businesses across the UK. My team meets with local, regional and national companies everyday now to show them how we will help them grow their business for the future. It’s a really exciting time for the industry.”
