In a press release issued by the port, it noted that during the same period in 2011, it registered a two digits increase in all container segments. The number of local containers (import and export) increased by 10% compared to the same period last year.
In the trans-shipment sector, the port registered an increase of 18% during the first six months, compared to the corresponding period last year. In the same period the port handled a total of 12,196 thousand tonnes – an increase of 7%.
Data from the Shipping and Ports Authority showed that the port’s market share increase by 4%.
