Port of Santa Marta sets a further record in America in vehicle unloading

The record was achieved in the operation of the motor-ship BOSPORUS HIGHWAY of the K-LINE arriving from Mexico, with 632 vehicles of the make Chevrolet, belonging to General Motors, having achieved an unloading productivity per hourof 332 units by the roll-on operation, improving by far the continental average
of 160 vehicles per hour and its own record established in America of 276 units per hour.

For Mauricio Suárez Ramírez, President of the Entrepreneurial Group Port of Santa Marta, this type of efficiency is not infrequent in the terminal. “We previously had an efficiency of 272 vehicles per hour which in itself was already a continental record, and now we are exceeding our own record having achieved 332 units unloaded per hour, which means more employment opportunities
for our people”, stated the high executive.

On the other hand, José María SoláFreixa, President of Fast Terminal International, the technology and specialization of the terminal in this operation is basic to be able to accomplish these records that have become customary in the terminal of Santa Marta. “Today we may say our intention is to increase and permanently maintain our efficiency in vehicle unloading and we are by far complying with our clients, placing the port of Santa Marta through FAST TERMINAL in an important point for global promotion”, concluded SoláFreixa.

This operation developed with zero incidents, which in terms of savings imply less cost assumed by the shipping line in dockage and port assistance, making attractive arriving once again to the Port of Santa Marta, as well as the savings it represents to the owner of cargo by maximizing on time delivery to the final recipient.
