The newly designed solution for the Liebherr mobile harbour crane is a perfect combination of space-saving portal undercarriage and efficient mobile harbour crane technology plus the ability to drive the crane where it is needed the most. The LPM provides unrestricted mobility as the space-saving portal system is equipped with wheelsets that enable 360-degree mobility. Supporting pads allow the crane to be used on quays with or without rail tracks.
Driving in longitudinal, diagonal or transverse direction is possible. Performance of conventional steering or slewing on the spot is possible and provided as standard. The steering is done by hydraulic motors and is electronically controlled.
Gantry on rubber tyres
The unique feature of the new Liebherr Portal Mobile crane is a gantry on rubber tyres. The unrestricted mobility enables the crane to be travelled from one quay to another. The mobile portal concept further offers precise and individual positioning which brings a high grade of flexibility. The gantry naturally provides a good drive-under capability, so that other vehicles can keep moving unhindered.
No technical restrictions
The Liebherr Portal Mobile type LPM 280 was recently transshipped to a client operating in the Caspian Sea. The machine offers the same technical specifications as the mobile LHM version. The same ground pressure under tires and under the supporting plates were achieved. Like the LHM 280, the LPM has a maximum lifting capacity of up to 84 tonnes and a maximum outreach of 40 metres – perfect conditions for efficient hook, spreader or grab operation.
