EU agrees to lift its sanctions on all of Libya's ports

The EU agreed to lift these sanctions yesterday (1 September), and others are expected to follow suit. In the east of the country, Benghazi port has been operating and receiving supply ships and oil and fuel tankers for a while. Misrata port has also been operating for a while. Sources on the ground have confirmed that Tripoli port has been receiving supply ships and commercial ships despite the sanctions, although traffic is expected to increase significantly as the sanctions are lifted. Security at Tripoli port is reported to be good, and although there is a
risk of loyalists carrying out opportunist attacks, these are unlikely to significantly threaten security or operations at the port. (Source GAC)
