Each weighing 1,380 tonnes and 90 metres tall, the latest generation cranes will be able to handle the largest container carriers afloat, including the 14,000 teu boxships operated by Seayard client MSC.
The arrival of the cranes marks one of the final stages in the development of Fos 2XL, which is due in service next January and will double annual capacity at Fos to two million teu.
Two similar gantries were delivered last December for the other new facility – now called Terminal de la Mediterranee – which will be operated by PortSynergy.
