Ms Carmen de la Barrera, Van Oord’s Quality Control inspector at the LaNaval yard, performed the ceremony. Underneath the first section, two euro coins were fixed: one with the portrait of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and one with the portrait of King Felipe VI of Spain. Both the Vox Amalia and its sister ship the Vox Alexia will be operational in 2017.

The ships have a hopper capacity of approximately 18,000m3. A new subsea rock installation vessel also forms part of the current Van Oord investment programme. Recently, Van Oord’s fleet was extended to include three small cutter suction dredgers and one small trailing suction hopper dredger.

As Rohr-Idreco manufactures state-of-the-art dredges with the latest technology, the customer decided to move forward with an RI 300 (12″) electric jet suction dredge, which has a digging depth of 60 ft. (18 m) and production capacity in excess of 400 tph. The dredge is equipped with a state-of-the-art GPS and sonar system that allows the operator to have virtually real time information on where material has been dredged and where virgin material still lies through an intricate mapping system.

The dredge is equipped with an RISD 300 (12″) Rohr-Idreco dredge pump, as well as one RIBS 300 (12″) Rohr-Idreco booster pump station, which is one of the most efficient and modern dredge pumps currently available in the market. It reduces wear and increases production with less energy consumption. The Rohr-Idreco team worked closely with the customer to make sure that the dredge and booster pump would meet the pumping distance and production requirements of the project.

The customer is pleased with the performance of the jet suction dredge and its ability to handle the challenging deposit. They chose the Rohr-Idreco brand because of its high efficiency and low energy consumption pump and advanced automated systems as well as quick delivery time.

Rohr-Idreco is a leader in the dredging world for designing and building custom deep digging electric or diesel modular automated dredges in excess of 150 ft. (45m), with high efficiency and low energy requirements.

TTS to deliver a second linkspan to Stena Europoort

0

Stena Line and Port of Rotterdam announced last year their collaboration to build a second berth at the Stena Line terminal at Europoort prior to the existing berth being renewed, as part of an extensive investment program designed to meet future customer demand.

Today the linkspan in the old berth allows one lane traffic only while the new linkspan is a state-of-the-art solution for efficient loading and unloading of rolling cargo between the ship and terminal with possibility of three lane traffic. The length of the new linkspan is about 18 meters with a width of 22 meters at the outer end, where the vessel ramp will be resting. It is maneuvered by dual hydraulically actuated cylinders on each side.

Stena Line and Port of Rotterdam is in progress building the new berth in the port and TTS Marine AB is delivering the linkspan for this berth as well. The new berth is expected to be completed and in operation in the first quarter of 2017. When the new berth is in operation the old berth will be renewed and the plan is to be operational by January 1st 2018. This will give Stena Line much greater flexibility to service the growing freight market.
