Following nearly 20 years of continued partnership with Navis, TRP upgraded to N4 to drive critical improvements in operational performance and customer service excellence.

A Navis SPARCS and Express customer since 1994, Buenos Aires-based Terminales Rio de la Plata handles containers from deep-sea vessels from Europe, Asia and North America, as well as feeders vessels to both the East and West coasts of South America and barges upriver to Rosario.

The facility made the strategic investment in N4 to modernize their systems and improve operational performance with enhanced reporting functionality and centralised yard, gate, rail and inspections events. With N4, TRP is improving the overall service that is delivered to their customers.

Following a collaborative implementation process with Navis and the terminal’s regional team, TRP successfully went live with N4 on October 12, 2013. Since that time, N4 has delivered several benefits including: better shipside and rail performance, improved ease of reporting, decreased customisation needs, productivity gains for IT staff, streamlined billing functionality and event monitoring, and remote access for terminal management.

N4 is Navis’ latest generation TOS, allowing customers the flexibility and scalability needed to run their operations – from a single terminal to multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations managed from one central location.

The goal of the partnership is to further expand and strengthen the lift truck business in India. Being one of the world’s fastest growing economies, India requires high quality and reliable equipment that ensures both productivity and safety. Both the industrial and container handling industries are expanding and Konecranes is focused on supporting that growth by expanding its own business in India and signing this new agreement with Portrucks.

That represents growth of 6.2 percent. Both general cargo handling totalling 96.8 million tons (+ 5.7 percent) and bulk cargo handling at 42.3 million tons (+ 7.2 percent), ensured above-average growth for Germany’s largest universal port.

The container handling was the principal source of this growth. With throughput of 9.3 million TEU (20-ft standard containers), the increase in container traffic reached 4.4 percent. This was primarily attributable to growth in transhipment services into the North Sea and Baltic region that were 10 percent higher, plus the onset of a recovery in container traffic with Asia, and especially with China, Hamburg’s largest partner on the market.
