State-of-the-art Transas Vessel Traffic Management System for Malaysian Pengerang Oil Terminal

0

The comprehensive Transas Vessel Traffic Management solution will allow for the Pengerang Oil Terminal compliance with the ISPS requirements. Based on the Transas state-of-the-art Navi-Harbour VTS software package, the system includes integrated network of marine sensors such as Radar, AIS, CCTV cameras and hydro-meteorological sensors which will provide a real-time navigational picture to VTS operators.

The Vessel Traffic Management System will improve safety and efficiency in the Port of Pengerang and contribute to environmental protection.

The Pengerang Oil Terminal will be one of the first Independent LNG Trading Terminals in Asia, which will allow multiple LNG users to store and trade the product to spur the growth in this area to establish Malaysia as the LNG Trading hub of Asia.

TTS to deliver cassette system for new London Gateway terminal

0

The order concerns the supply of ten (10) LTH70 translifters along with one hundred fifteen (115) cassettes for the new DP World London Gateway Terminal with delivery scheduled for summer 2013.

“This solution will increase the efficiency of the new terminal,” says Lennart Svensson, Executive Vice President of the Port & Logistics Division in Gothenburg. “The solutions from TTS will secure an efficient workflow across the container terminal operations.  We are confident that the TTS cassette system will provide a positive contribution to the terminal gateway project.”

Container transport

The DP World London Gateway Terminal will use the cassettes and translifters to transport containers between automatic stacking cranes and the railway line, as well as to and from the customs area, when the terminal opens in Q4 2013. Situated on the north bank of the River Thames, London Gateway will be the UK’s 21st century major deep-sea container port and Europe’s largest logistics park, and will provide unrivalled deep-sea shipping access for the world’s leading businesses to the largest consumer markets in the UK.

Quick and efficient system

DP World chose the TTS cassette system to ensure high performance within their land side operation. The cassettes themselves are designed to safely support containers while being quickly transported, and containers can be stacked and carried on a single cassette in a variety of configurations. The translifters, coupled to a universal towing tractor, will after a pick-up or a drop-off of a cassette, be able to move on to another task with virtually no idle time. This allows for higher utilization of the terminal equipment as well as a high productivity.

Tender: Feasibility study for the next phase of the JadeWeserPort

0

The results, to be presented early 2015, will serve as the basis for further political decisions concerning dates and further procedures in project planning and realisation.

Tenders are invited for a total of nine lots. The technical investigations concerning the provision of the extended port area, relating in particular to sand production, quay design and directly adjacent road and rail connections to the public network are key aspects as are demand analyses and the planning basis for the extension. Furthermore the feasibility study is to consider the impact of a possible port extension in environmental terms as well as with respect to noise generation. The overall investigation programme also includes acoustic and nautical investigations as well as the development of optimisation potentials for environmentally-compatible port operations, for example also through the use of alternative energies and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
