Terex extends its commitment to the Latin American market

0

“Our strengthened structure of the Crane segment in the region will help us better deliver our customer responsiveness value proposition in all aspects of our customer’s business – improved availability of products, outstanding parts and service support, and better access to improved financing,” said Jacob Thomas, President of Terex Latin America.

“Latin America is a key region for our company’s global growth. We are coming closer and closer to our customers with a strong presence in manufacturing, distribution and product support at the local level. Our global strategy is to accelerate growth in developing markets, including Latin America, leveraging the infrastructure already established by Demag Cranes AG, whose integration into Terex is now being rapidly implemented following the Domination and Profit and Loss Transfer Agreement announced in April,” says Steve Filipov, Terex Corporation’s President for Developing Markets and Strategic Accounts.

Selected to be produced at the Terex plant in Cachoeirinha, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, the RT555 Progress rough-terrain crane will meet the needs of the local market, which is currently booming. Assembled in Brazil with the same quality as the model produced in Waverly, Iowa, USA, the RT555 Progress has a proven efficient design and its versatility and best in class features are ideal for the market’s needs.

The development project to assemble the crane in Brazil was carried out in close partnership between the Terex teams at Cachoeirinha and Waverly. With the training of the staff and installation of the necessary manufacturing infrastructure, the local plant site has become self-sufficient in new crane assembly.

31 Bromma Ship-to-Shore Spreaders ordered for new APM Terminals venture

A key element of the Maasvlakte II order is that Bromma will be supplying 9 Tandemâ„¢ spreaders for phase one of this APM Terminals venture. This order of 9 Tandemâ„¢ spreaders will make Maasvlakte II the largest installation of Tandemâ„¢ units in the world. In addition, Bromma will be supplying 22 separating twin-lift STS45 crane spreaders for phase one of the terminal.

“Bromma is extremely pleased to be partnering with APM Terminals in their new venture at Maasvlakte II,” says Per-Anders Holmstrom, President of Bromma. “As the productivity and reliability of the crane spreader is always crucial to operational success, we recognize the important role Bromma plays in this project. This APM Terminal development at Maasvlakte II will be one of the important terminals in Europe for many years to come, and we are delighted to be part of its future.”

Boosting The Productivity Of Each Lift Cycle

Bromma designed Tandemâ„¢ spreaders as a strategy to boost the productivity of each lift cycle. One way to unload mega-ships is to increase cycle speed. However, historically there are significant hurdles to increasing cycle speed – in particular crane anti-sway issues and drive control issues. Bromma Tandemâ„¢ spreaders were designed to twin-lift 40′ or 45′ containers, or simultaneously lift two or four 20′ containers, thereby maximizing the operational impact of each lift cycle. Highly productive and highly versatile, the Tandemâ„¢ spreader is a tool to increase the speed of mega-ship turnaround.

The Tandemâ„¢ spreaders ordered for APM Terminals will also be supplied with an automated quick-connect plug interface between the spreader and headblock.

“As mega-ships increasingly arrive with very large container loads at terminals of the future, we expect more and more terminals will be looking for handling solutions as productive and versatile as Bromma Tandemâ„¢,” says Vikram Raman, Bromma Vice-President and Commercial Director. “The selection of 9 Bromma Tandemâ„¢ spreaders for this APM Terminals venture is an important development.”
