Automated terminals driving dynamic growth at Bromma

0

The most recent Bromma orders are for the London Gateway and the Trapac terminal in Los Angeles. In each case orders were for Bromma’s pioneering all-electric spreaders. Bromma all-electric spreaders are being specified for automated terminals due to their inherent reliability. Due to fewer service points, lighter weight, and the absence of any hydraulics,  Bromma all-electric spreaders have higher availability, simplified maintenance requirements, and tough durability. In 2011 Bromma all-electric orders for automated terminals included contracts for:

10xYSX45E for an automated stacking crane project at TraPac in Los Angeles

0x YSX45E for an automated stacking crane project at the London Gateway in England

34xYSX45E for an automated stacking crane project in Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi

40xYSX45E for an automated stacking crane project in Barcelona, Spain

8xYSX45E for an automated stacking crane project in Brisbane, Australia

8xYSX45E for an automated stacking crane project in Sydney, Australia

In all Bromma now has nearly 400 crane spreaders in service or on order to automated terminals.

More Container Terminals Specify Container Weight Verification

Bromma container weight verification technology is also being specified by more container terminals, with recent load sensing contracts for terminals in China, Brasil, London and Los Angeles. As misstated container weight is a significant problem in the industry, posing a safety risk for truckers, for personnel on the yard, and for shippers, Bromma expects that load sensing orders will accelerate strongly during 2012.

New Bromma load sensing technology enables terminals to verify the actual weight of their containers without any disruption to ordinary operations. This has both safety and operational planning benefits. From a safety standpoint, Bromma load sensing technology creates a safer lifting environment, and from an operational standpoint, it aids in container stacking planning.

Steep growth in Hamburg's container throughput for Poland in 2011

So it comes as no surprise that feeder connections between Hamburg and the Polish ports were further expanded during 2011. Altogether five new feeder services commenced operation between Hamburg and Baltic ports in 2011.

The Polish ports of Gda?sk, Gdynia, ?winouj?cie and Szczecin are served from Hamburg by eleven feeder services with a total of 20 sailings per week. In addition, Hamburg with its well-developed rail connections and its dense autobahn network fulfills an essential hub function for traffic with its East Europe hinterland. For instance, provisional estimates by Port of Hamburg Marketing indicated that between Hamburg and Poland a comparable transport volume to 2010 of approximately 240,000 TEU was reached on truck and rail container traffic. A precise calculation of the 2011 figures is not yet available.

For the Port of Hamburg and its marketing organization Port of Hamburg Marketing, this very positive throughput trend is reason enough to participate in the Intermodal Conference being held as part of Transport Week in Gda?sk from 6 – 8 March. Claudia Roller, CEO of Port of Hamburg Marketing, will be attending this conference and delivering a presentation on the topic “The European market seen from the North Sea hub port Hamburg”.

Transport Week is designed for experts from port, shipping and transport companies as well as institutions and trade associations. Approaches are also made to the financial sector and universities. The conference aims to broaden knowledge of the transport market for those present, and to bring together international experts from different sectors of the shipping and transport industry. With lectures, discussions and a gala dinner, the three days of the conference offer participants a very varied program.
