Pilbara Ports Authority reveals figures for December

Australian Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has delivered a total monthly throughput of 52.8 million tonnes (Mt) for the month of December. Half year-to-date figures (July 2014- December 2014) show a total combined throughput of 314.1 Mt.

Kalmar delivers first Gloria reachstackers into Asia

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is delivering four of its latest generation Gloria reachstackers to International Container Terminal Services Inc Group (ICTSI). The 45 tonnes capacity units are the first operational in the Asia-Pacific territory, following their launch in Shanghai in August 2014.

Gaussin signs agreements to automate Surabaya terminal and an exclusive licence

At the end of December, Gaussin signed a letter of intent with PT Teluk Lamong (TTL), a subsidiary of Pelindo, extending and boosting the activity of the group in Indonesia. The signing follows a first agreement – signed in March 2013 - with Pelindo for the supply of 50 ATT Lift Diesel units and docking stations, which are now in operation in the TTL port in Surabaya.

Port of Dover celebrates record-breaking freight boom

Cargotec's MacGregor secures large subsea crane order from ZPMC

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a large order from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co Ltd (ZPMC). The contract is for four offshore cranes, including a 400 tonnes SWL active heave-compensated crane capable of deploying 3,000m of wire rope.

New rail service between the port of Duisburg and the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp

As from the 7th of January 2015, Distri Rail BV and Duisport Agency GmbH extend their existing direct rail connection between the logistical inland turntable of Duisburg and Frankfurt-am-Main Industriepark Höchst with a stop at the Kombi Terminal Ludwigshafen (KTL).

ICTSI Polish receives 2 new quay cranes

International Container Terminal Services Inc's (ICTSI) container terminal in the Port of Gdynia, Poland - Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) - has received two new quay cranes, further boosting BCT's status as a key port in Eastern Europe and in the Baltic region. Measuring more than 60m high with a reach of more than 50 feet over the water, BCT's new quay cranes (QCs) have a capacity of more than 60 tonnes. They arrived in Gdynia on 7 December aboard the vessel Zhen Hua 8.

First commercial vessel call at APM Terminals new Maasvlakte II facility

The 4,360 TEU capacity Sealand Eagle became the first container vessel to call at the new Maasvlakte II expansion of the Port of Rotterdam, making the short journey from the existing APM Terminals Rotterdam terminal to the deep-water quay at the new APM Terminals Maasvlakte II terminal to re-position empty containers as part of the ongoing commercial volume tests of the world's most advanced port container handling facility.

Saturday 10 January, world's largest ships to arrive in Rotterdam

On Saturday 10 January, the CSCL Globe, the largest container vessel in the world, and the Pieter Schelte, the largest ship in the world, are expected in the port of Rotterdam. There is even a realistic chance that the Pieter Schelte will arrive in the afternoon and pass the CSCL Globe in the Yangtzehaven.
