Industry welcomes UK's latest container terminal

The UK's logistics industry has welcomed the opening of a new deep-water terminal at the country's busiest container terminal, which is capable of handling the latest generation of container vessels. The Felixstowe South Terminal will comprise two berths – 8 & 9 – and its owner, Hutchison Ports UK, claims it is currently the only facility in the country capable of handling the latest generation of containerships, which have capacities of up to 18,000 TEU.

Cargotec continues to implement its common visual identity by launching new product labeling for its market-leading brands Hiab, Kalmar and MacGregor. Before year-end 2011, all new Hiab and Kalmar products will have a Cargotec elephant logotype, a daughter brand's name and model designation labels. Britain's new global port to open in 2013

London Gateway, the new global shipping port and logistics centre project, will open in the fourth quarter of 2013 with an initial capacity of 1.6 million TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units), according to a recent announcement from DP World.

Port of Felixstowe celebrates 29th daily rail service

The Port of Felixstowe is celebrating its 29th daily rail service, which commenced on Saturday 1st October. The new service is operated by GB Railfreight, and runs to Barton Dock Manchester five days a week, complimenting the already extensive rail offering from the UK's largest container port for shipping lines, importers and shippers to the strategically important North West market.
