Florida ports continue to innovate with use of alternative fuels

A report released recently by the Florida Ports Council and the Florida Natural Gas Association shows Florida's seaports and industry partners are investing in innovations to be more efficient and effective, including the implementation of environmentally-friendly, less costly, domestically-produced natural gas as an alternative fuel. Florida's 15 ports support more than 900,000 jobs across the state, and have a total economic impact of more than $117 billion.

Two new super-post-Panamax cranes on their way to the Stockholm Norvik Port

Hutchison Ports will operate two brand new super-post-Panamax cranes at the container terminal at the Stockholm Norvik Port. The container cranes began their journey from Shanghai on 10th January and will arrive for installation at the new port at the end of March.

Port of Felixstowe upgrades Ro/Ro facilities

In her first port visit of 2020, Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani MP has inspected the site of work to upgrade Roll-on/Roll-off facilities at Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe. The works will allow the port to accommodate larger Ro/Ro vessels and improve the efficiency of vessel operations.

London Court of International Arbitration orders the Republic of Djibouti to immediately restore DP World to its rights and benefits under container terminal concession

DP World has won a further legal hearing against the Government of Djibouti over the Doraleh Container Terminal. A Tribunal of the London Court of International Arbitration ordered Djibouti to restore the rights and benefits under the 2006 Concession Agreement to DP World and Doraleh Container Terminal SA within two months, or pay damages.

SC Ports reports best volumes yet in 2019

South Carolina Ports Authority had its best calendar year in its history, handling 2.44 million TEUs in 2019, a 5% increase year-over-year.
